Boll i spel

Studsen, glaset, nätstängslet och nätet: när en boll är bra och när den inte är det.

The bounce before the wall

Your opponents' ball has to bounce on your floor before it touches any of your walls. After that bounce, the glass and the mesh are part of the game and you play the ball as it comes off them.

Playing the ball off your own walls

You may hit the ball into your own glass so it rebounds over the net, as long as it then lands in their court. If it falls on your side, hits your mesh or hits their wall first, you lose the point.

Mesh, posts, gaps, lights and the ceiling

After the bounce the mesh, frames and posts are part of the wall. Anything above or outside the court is not: a shot that touches the ceiling or lights before bouncing in their court is lost, one that bounces first and then hits them is a winner.

The net and the posts in a rally

A ball that clips the net or a net post and lands in their court is good. If it falls back on your side, or goes from the net straight into their wall, you lose the point.

Stuck balls and the corner

A ball that bounces in their court and then wedges in the mesh or rests on top of a wall wins the point. A ball that lands exactly in the corner where floor meets wall is good.

Your shot bounces and comes back over the net

If your shot bounces in their court and spins or bounces back to your side, they may still play it, as long as they touch nothing on your side. If they cannot, the point is yours. Do not touch it yourself.

The ball clips the top of the wall

What matters is whether the ball has bounced on the floor first. After a bounce, a ball that clips the top of the glass and drops back in is still in play, one that goes out is a winner, and one that comes to rest on top wins the point. Before the bounce, it is a lost point.

Volleying a ball that was going out

If their shot is flying straight into your glass or out of the court, let it go: the point is yours. Once you volley it, it is a live ball and your return has to be good.

Did it bounce twice?

A ball must be returned before it bounces on the floor a second time. Walls and mesh in between do not reset the count: two bounces on the floor and the point is lost.
