The serve hits the receiver or their partner

If the serve hits either receiving player, or their rackets, before it bounces, the server wins the point. If it clipped the net on the way, the serve is taken again instead.

Hit on the full

The receiver has to let the serve bounce in the box. If the ball hits the receiver, the receiver's partner or either of their rackets before it bounces, the point goes to the server. The rule makes no exception for a serve that was heading long or wide.

Off the net first

A serve that touches the net or a net post and then hits a player, or anything a player wears or carries, is a net. The serve is taken again, with no penalty.

After a good bounce

Once the serve has bounced in the box, it is a ball in play like any other. If it then hits a receiving player anywhere except the racket, the receiving pair lose the point.

Partners at the net

The receiver's partner may stand anywhere on their side, and often stands close to the net. That is allowed, but they must keep out of the way of the serve rather than block it.

Frågor

What happens if the serve hits the receiver's partner at the net?

The server wins the point, as long as the serve did not touch the net first. If it did, the serve is taken again.

Is it a fault if the serve hits the receiver before bouncing but was going out?

No. A serve that hits a receiving player before it bounces wins the point for the server, wherever it was heading.
