A fast reaction volley against a hard ball at close range, with almost no swing.

In quick exchanges at the net. When an opponent drives straight at you.
Come giocarlo
Keep the racket up in front of your chest between shots. Block the ball with a firm wrist and no backswing. Use the backhand for balls at your body.
Errori comuni
Dropping the racket between shots. Swinging at a ball you only have time to block.

Legal under Rule 14.1a once the ball has crossed the net. You lose the point if you play it on your opponents' side before it crosses (Rule 13.1f) or touch the net or posts with your body or racket (Rule 13.1a).
