Short volley
The opposite choice to a deep volley: aimed into the front of the opponents' court when both of them are deep.
When to play it
When both opponents are at the back. Off a ball you can take above the net.
How to play it
Soften the grip and open the face slightly. Aim just over the net into the space in front of them. Close in for the reply.
Common mistakes
Playing it when an opponent is close to the net. Hitting it so firmly that it reaches them.

Is the short volley legal in padel?
Legal under Rule 14.1a once the ball has crossed the net. You lose the point if you play it on your opponents' side before it crosses (Rule 13.1f) or touch the net or posts with your body or racket (Rule 13.1a).
