Rally & Roam

Full-court singles

One against one on a normal 20 by 10 m court, each player covering the whole width. It is not an FIP format, but it is played by agreement for fitness and practice.

Hvad der ændrer sig i forhold til en standardkamp

One player a side instead of two, so there is no partner, no serving order within a pair and no choice of receiver. The doubles rules on who may hit the ball and on partners touching each other do not arise. Not covered by the FIP rules: everything is by agreement.

Reglerne

Each player covers their whole side of the court. The serve follows the FIP rules: bounced behind the service line, struck at or below the waist, diagonally into the box opposite. Serve from the right for the first point of each game, then alternate sides after every point, as in doubles. Two serves are allowed, and faults and lets follow the FIP rules. The ball must bounce on the opponent's floor before it touches their walls or mesh. Return the ball before its second bounce; you may play it off your own walls. Each player serves a whole game, then the serve passes to the opponent. Change ends after the first, third and every odd game, as in doubles.

Sådan afvikler du det

Agree the scoring and any house rules before the warm-up. Keep games short or set a time limit; points are physically demanding. Use it as a fitness or practice session rather than as competition.

Spørgsmål

Can you play padel singles on a normal court?

Yes, using the whole court and the normal rules where they apply. It is not an official FIP format.

Is singles padel good practice?

It is good for fitness and footwork. For doubles tactics, cross-court singles on half the court is closer to the real game.
