Advantage scoring

The classic way to score a game, and option 1 in the FIP rules: at 40-all it is deuce, and a pair must win two points in a row to take the game, however long that takes.

Hvad der ændrer sig i forhold til en standardkamp

None: this is option 1 of the FIP scoring rules. Compared with golden point and star point, there is no single deciding point, so the receiving pair keeps its normal receiving order throughout.

Reglerne

A game starts at love-all. The first point won is 15, the second 30, the third 40 and the fourth wins the game. If both pairs have won three points, the score is deuce. The pair that wins the next point has advantage. If the pair with advantage wins the next point, they win the game. If they lose it, the score goes back to deuce. This continues with no limit until one pair wins two points in a row from deuce. The server's score is called first, as in every game.

Sådan afvikler du det

Announce advantage scoring in the event details and again before play. Plan court time generously, or combine it with a shorter set or a deciding tie-break. Without an umpire, the server calls the score before each point, for example "advantage server" or "advantage receivers".

Spørgsmål

Is advantage scoring still used in padel?

Yes. It is option 1 in the 2026 FIP rules. Since 2026 the professional tours play the star point instead, which starts with two rounds of advantage.

How long can a deuce game last?

There is no limit; it ends only when one pair wins two points in a row from deuce.
