Lob
Over netspillerne for at tage nettet tilbage, defensive, offensive og fra glasset.
Defensive lob
High over the net pair and deep, so it drops close to their back glass. Padel's most important defensive shot, and the way you win the net back.
Topspin lob
A lob with forward spin, so it dips late over the net players and runs away towards the back glass after the bounce.
Sliced lob
A lob with backspin for control and a slower, lower bounce off the back glass.
Flat lob
A lob with little spin, the simplest to play: a high, smooth swing that lifts the ball over the net players.
Cross-court lob
A lob played diagonally towards the far corner, which gives you the longest court to land in.
Down-the-line lob
A lob played straight over the player opposite you, along the side wall.
Emergency lob
A lob hit as high as possible when you are under pressure, to buy time to recover your position.
Short lob
The mistake to avoid: a lob that lands short of the opponents and gives them an easy smash.
Attacking lob
A lower, faster lob played to get over the net player before they can turn, usually from a comfortable position in the middle of the court.
Fake lob
Shape up as if to lob, then play a lower ball such as a chiquita or a drive, or the other way round.
Lob off the glass
Letting the ball come off your back glass and lobbing it from there, high and deep, when you have no other way out.
Volley lob
A lob played out of the air, before the ball bounces, usually from the net when the opponents have closed in close to it.
The lob
A high ball over the net players that sends them back to their own glass and lets your pair take the net. It is the most important defensive shot in padel, and with topspin or disguise it attacks too.
