FAST4 padel

FAST4 is the name of a short tennis format: sets to four games, a tie-break at three-all, no advantage and a ten-point match tie-break. It is not in the FIP rules, and the LTA's own padel events use short sets with the tie-break at four-all instead.

Wat er anders is dan bij een standaardwedstrijd

Sets are to four games instead of six. In the tennis version the tie-break is at three-all; in the FIP mini-set and LTA padel short sets it is at four-all. Deuce is decided by one point, which matches the FIP golden point. The third set is a ten-point match tie-break, which matches the FIP super tie-break.

De regels

In tennis FAST4 as the LTA describes it, the first to four games wins a set. At three games all, a tie-break to seven points, won by two, decides the set, so a set can finish 4 to 3. Games use no-advantage scoring: at deuce one deciding point is played, and in doubles the receiving pair chooses who receives and cannot change positions. At one set all, a match tie-break to ten points, won by two, decides the match. If a padel event uses the FAST4 name, its own rules apply; ask whether it follows the tennis version or the FIP mini-set.

Zo organiseer je het

Write the full scoring on the entry page and the draw sheet, not just the word FAST4. Say where the tie-break falls: three-all or four-all. Brief players before the first round.

Vragen

Is FAST4 an official padel format?

No. It is a tennis format. The FIP rules have a four-game set with the tie-break at four-all.

Does the LTA use FAST4 for padel?

The LTA's padel guidance describes short sets to four games with a tie-break at four-all and a ten-point championship tie-break, not FAST4. Its FAST4 events are tennis events.
