Rule 7: service faults

A serve is a fault if it breaks the serving rules, misses the ball, lands outside the box, hits the serving pair, or bounces in the box and then touches the metal fence or leaves through a door where outside play is not allowed. The lines are good.

Clausola 1: Wrong serving position

The serve is a fault if the server does not stand where Rule 6 requires.

Clausola 2: No proper bounce first

The serve is a fault if the server does not bounce the ball as Rule 6 requires before hitting it.

Clausola 3: Feet on a line

The serve is a fault if, before the ball is hit, the server touches with their feet a line or area that Rule 6 rules out.

Clausola 4: Hit above the waist

The serve is a fault if the ball is hit above waist height.

Clausola 5: Both feet off the ground

The serve is a fault if neither of the server's feet is touching the ground when the ball is hit.

Clausola 6: Serve in the wrong direction

The serve is a fault if it does not go diagonally over the net towards the receiver's box.

Clausola 7: Missing the ball

The serve is a fault if the server tries to hit the ball and misses it.

Clausola 8: Landing outside the box

The serve is a fault if the ball bounces outside the receiver's service box.

Clausola 9: The lines are good

A serve that lands on a line of the receiver's box is good.

Clausola 10: Hitting the serving pair

The serve is a fault if the ball hits the server, the server's partner, or anything either of them is wearing or carrying.

Clausola 11: Bounce, then the metal fence

The serve is a fault if the ball bounces in the receiver's box and then touches the metal fence around the court before it bounces a second time. Only the metal fence is named here. A serve that bounces in the box and then comes off the glass is not on this list of faults.

Clausola 12: Out through a door

The serve is a fault if the ball bounces in the receiver's box and then goes straight out of the court through a door opening, on a court without a safety area, where play outside the court is not allowed.
