How to film your padel for analysis
For a match, film from high behind the back glass with the whole court in view. For a technique check, film one shot from the side.
In breve
Where you put your phone matters more than the phone itself. The analysis needs to see the court lines and every player, so a steady, high view from behind the court works best for matches.
Filming a match
- Shoot from behind and above the back glass, centred. A high, middle view gives the clearest picture of the whole court. - Keep the whole court and both service lines in frame. The analysis finds the court lines to measure distances and positions. - Landscape, 1080p, 30 frames a second is plenty. Higher settings only make the file bigger. - One set is enough for a useful report. - Keep the phone still. A tripod or a clamp on the fence is ideal.
Filming a technique check
- Film one shot from the side, with your whole body in frame. - Keep the phone still on a tripod or the fence. - Five to ten repeats of the same shot work best.
Drills and lessons
Any angle works. Your coach can watch the video and leave notes, even if you do not have it analysed.
Why the view matters
If the court lines are clear, the report says Court lines found automatically. If they cannot be found, the court position is estimated and the report warns that distances are approximate. Players on the next court or spectators outside the playing area are ignored, so a tight frame on your own court helps.
