Rally & Roam

Golden point

Option 3 in the FIP rules, also called no advantage: at 40-all, one deciding point settles the game. The receiving pair chooses which side receives it and cannot swap places; in mixed play the receiver is the same sex as the server.

Qué cambia respecto a un partido estándar

None: this is option 3 of the FIP scoring rules. Compared with advantage scoring, a game can never go past seven points.

Las reglas

Points go love, 15, 30, 40 and game, with the server's score called first. If both pairs have won three points, deuce is called and one deciding point, the golden point, is played. The receiving pair chooses whether the serve goes to the right or the left side. The receiving players cannot change positions to receive the deciding point. In mixed doubles, the receiver must be the same sex as the server, and the receiving players still cannot change positions. The pair that wins the golden point wins the game. If the deciding serve is a fault, the server has a second serve as usual.

Cómo organizarlo

Announce golden point in the event details. At 40-all, the server waits for the receiving pair to name the receiver before serving. Golden point combines well with short sets and a deciding super tie-break when court time is tight.
