Wrist-flick winner

A short stroke at the net driven mainly by the wrist, used to change direction at the last moment and catch the opponents going the wrong way.

When to play it

On a slow, high ball at the net when the opponents are committed to one side. When they expect a firm volley through the middle.

How to play it

Shape for your normal volley. At the last moment use the wrist to redirect the ball into the open space. Keep it short and low so it cannot be reached.

Common mistakes

Using the wrist on fast balls, where you lose control. Flicking without a target, which just gives a short ball.
