Tweener

Any shot hit between your legs. Most tweeners are played running back towards your own glass after a lob has beaten you, but the name covers every between-the-legs contact.

When to play it

When a lob has passed you, you cannot turn in time and the ball will not come off the glass. Very rarely as a show shot when the point is already safe.

How to play it

Chase the ball with it dropping in front of you, legs wide apart. Let it fall to just below knee height and swing the racket through between your legs. Send it high and safe so it has time to clear the net.

Common mistakes

Choosing it when a lob off the glass or a normal stroke was possible. Legs too close together, so the ball or the racket hits you. Swinging flat, so the ball goes into the net.

Questions

Is the tweener legal in padel?

Legal under Rule 14 if the ball clears the net and bounces in the opponents' court. Under Rule 13 you lose the point if the ball touches your own body or clothing after the hit.
