Traerla (bring it back)
A flat smash from close to the net hit so hard and high off their back glass that the ball comes all the way back over the net to your side, where the defenders cannot reach it.
When to play it
On a short lob close to the net, when you are balanced and the ball is high. When outside play is allowed, as a winner the defenders cannot chase.
How to play it
Get close to the net and side on to the ball. Hit flat and hard into the floor about two metres from their back glass. Make the ball climb high enough that the defenders cannot intercept it on the way back.
Common mistakes
Trying it from the service line, where the rebound will not carry back. Facing the net with square shoulders and losing the weight transfer. A late contact point that sends the ball long.

Questions
Is the traerla legal in padel?
Legal under Rule 14: the ball has bounced in their court, so their side still has to play it. Rule 14g lets them reach it after it comes back over the net, but only if they touch neither the net, the posts nor your court (Rule 13a).
