Serve to the back corner

A serve that bounces deep near the side wall and runs into the corner where the back and side glass meet, the hardest rebound to read.

When to play it

Against receivers who are not yet confident off two walls. When the receiver stands well inside the box.

How to play it

Aim for the corner of the box where the service line meets the side wall. Use a little slice so the ball keeps low into the corner. Come forward expecting a defensive lob.

Common mistakes

Serving too long, beyond the service line. Serving too high, so the ball comes out of the corner slowly.

Questions

Is the serve to the back corner legal in padel?

Legal under Rule 6. A ball that lands in the box and then runs into the back or side glass stays in play; only touching the metal fence before the second bounce makes it a fault (Rule 7.1e).
