Kick serve

A topspin serve that jumps up off the floor and kicks off the glass higher than the receiver expects.

When to play it

To vary the height of your serves and break the receiver's rhythm. On a slow court where a slice sits up anyway. Deep in the box, so the kick carries it up off the back glass. A serve that touches the mesh after the bounce is a fault.

How to play it

Drop the ball a little further forward and brush up the back of it. Finish with the racket high, still below waist height at contact. Aim deep in the box so the kick carries it into the glass.

Common mistakes

Hitting up so much the ball lands short and sits up. Letting the ball rise above the waist while trying to get under it.

Questions

Is the saque liftado legal in padel?

Legal under Rule 6 when you strike at or below the waist and the ball bounces in the box. If it touches the metal fence before its second bounce, it is a fault under Rule 7.1e, so the side fence is not a legal serving target.
