High and deep
A high ball that lands deep, close to the opponents' back glass. In defence it buys time; in attack it pushes a net pair back.
When to play it
When the opponents are at the net and you are at the back. When you are out of position and need time. To change the pace of a fast rally.
How to play it
Open the face and lift through the ball from below. Aim over the reach of the net player and deep. Move up with your partner once it passes them.
Common mistakes
Landing it short, which gives them a smash. Hitting it so long that it rebounds high off the back glass. Watching it instead of moving.
