Fast serve
A firmer serve, still struck at or below the waist, that rushes the receiver and can force a weak return.
When to play it
Against receivers who take a long swing. As a first serve when you have rhythm.
How to play it
Keep the contact at or below the waist as the rules require. Accelerate through the ball with a longer follow-through, keeping the path low over the net. Aim at the body or the glass rather than the centre of the box.
Common mistakes
Losing accuracy for pace and serving faults. Letting the ball rise above the waist to hit it harder, which is a fault.
