Down-the-line lob
A lob played straight over the player opposite you, along the side wall.
When to play it
When the player opposite is close to the net. To change direction from your usual cross-court lobs.
How to play it
Aim straight over the opponent's backhand shoulder if you can. Keep it a little higher, since the court is shorter. Recover as your partner covers the middle.
Common mistakes
Landing it long, since the straight court is shorter. Hitting it to the opponent's forehand smash.
