Body shot
A firm ball aimed straight at an opponent, usually the net player, so they have no room to swing. It is a normal tactic in padel when played at the body, never at the head.
When to play it
When a net player is close in and the ball sits up for you. When the angles are covered and there is no gap to aim for.
How to play it
Aim between the hip and the shoulder, where it is hardest to get the racket out of the way. Hit firm and flat, below chest height. Be ready for a quick reflex volley back towards you.
Common mistakes
Aiming at the head, which is dangerous and rarely wins the point. Playing it from too far back, so the net player has time to step aside. Hitting it softly, which turns it into an easy volley.
