Bajada off the side glass

The attacking bajada played on a ball that rises high off the side glass rather than the back glass, struck in the air on its way down.

When to play it

When a high ball comes off your side glass at shoulder height or above. When the other pair expect a defensive lob.

How to play it

Stand off the side wall and let the ball come out to you. Wait for it to start dropping, then hit in front with slice or flat. Aim low and deep, often cross-court.

Common mistakes

Hitting it while it is still rising off the glass. Standing too close to the side wall and getting cramped.

Questions

Is the bajada de pared lateral legal in padel?

Legal under Rule 12.3: after its bounce on your side, the ball is still in play off your side glass, and you may play it in the air before it lands again (Rule 13c).
