Toque
A drop shot disguised as a normal volley, angled so it dies near the side or even leaves through the side opening.
When to play it
At the net when both opponents are deep. When they expect a deep volley from you.
How to play it
Shape for a normal volley. At the last moment, soften the hands and angle the ball short towards the side. Cover the reply in case they reach it.
Common mistakes
Showing the drop with an early change of grip or stance. Playing it from too far back.

Questions
Is the toque legal in padel?
Legal under Rule 14b. If it bounces in their court and then leaves through the side opening, it is still a correct return (Rule 14d), and the point ends unless out-of-court play is authorised (Rules 13d and 13e).
