Reverse-spin shot

A shot struck with an unusual racket face so the ball spins the opposite way to what the opponents expect, which changes how it bounces and comes off the glass.

When to play it

Against opponents who read your normal spin off the glass well. On a slow ball at the net, where you have time to shape the face.

How to play it

Brush the ball on the opposite side from your usual slice. Keep the swing short so the spin, not the pace, does the work. Aim for a bounce near the side glass, where unexpected spin matters most.

Common mistakes

Trying it on fast balls, where the contact is too delicate. Showing it early with a big change of racket face.

Is the reverse-spin shot legal in padel?

Legal under Rule 14 as long as it is one hit in one movement and the ball lands in the opponents' court.
