Reverse-slice flick
A short, improvised contact that cuts across the ball the opposite way to your normal slice, so it skids or kicks sideways.
When to play it
As a rescue on a ball that has got too close, where a normal slice is impossible. Now and then at the net to change the spin the opponents see.
How to play it
Keep the stroke very short, mainly forearm and wrist. Cut across the ball rather than through it. Aim low and away from the net player.
Common mistakes
Swinging long, which turns the flick into a mishit. Using it as a main shot rather than a surprise.
