Team Mexicano
Fixed pairs play Mexicano style: after the first round, pairs are ranked by points and each round matches pairs with similar totals.
What changes from a standard match
Rally-point scoring replaces games and sets. Opponents are chosen by the standings after every round. Standings are kept by pair, not by player.
The rules
Pairs are fixed for the whole event. Round one is drawn at random or seeded. Every rally scores one point, and each pair adds its score to its total. After each round, rank the pairs by total points. Each round, pairs next to each other in the standings meet: first against second on court 1, third against fourth on court 2. If the number of pairs is odd, one pair rests each round in turn. The pair with the most points at the end wins. One platform splits ties by point difference, then wins.
How to run it
Take entries as pairs and draw or seed round one. Collect every score before ranking the pairs. Match neighbours in the table, top pair on court 1. If two pairs would meet again and you announced that repeats are avoided, swap with the next pair down. Play the planned rounds and announce the final table.
