Gefühlsschläge
Die Chiquita, der Stopp und andere weiche Bälle, die die Netzspieler zwingen, nach oben zu spielen.
Chiquita
A soft, low ball from the back that dips at the feet of the players at the net, so they have to volley upwards and you can move forward.
Cross-court chiquita
A chiquita played diagonally, over the lowest part of the net to the feet of the net player opposite on the diagonal.
Straight chiquita
A chiquita played down the line at the feet of the player opposite.
Chiquita through the middle
A chiquita between the two net players to cause doubt about who takes it.
Drop shot
A soft volley or shot that dies just over the net. It works when both opponents are deep behind the service line.
Forehand drop shot
A drop shot played on the forehand, usually from the net or the middle of the court, when both opponents are deep.
Backhand drop shot
A drop shot played on the backhand, usually with slice so the ball stops after the bounce.
Backspin drop shot
A drop shot with heavy backspin, so it stops quickly after the bounce or even comes back towards the net.
Side-spin drop shot
A drop shot hit with side-spin so it moves sideways after the bounce, away from the opponent.
Short-angle drop shot
A drop shot played short and angled towards the side, pulling the opponent forward and wide.
Fake drop shot (finta)
A disguised preparation for a drop shot that turns into a different shot, such as a drive or a lob.
Dormilona
A soft ball that drops just over the net and barely bounces, often played on a ball that has come back towards the net, such as a smash rebounding off the glass.
Feather touch
An informal name for very light contact that lifts the ball just over the net, so it lands short and barely bounces.
Lob-drop disguise
Using the same preparation for a lob and a drop shot, so the opponents cannot tell which one is coming until the last moment.
