Leaving the court during a match
Players may not leave the court and its surroundings during a match, warm-up included, without the umpire's permission. Organisers may announce a limited number of toilet breaks or clothing changes before the match.
Stay in the area of play
The area of play means the court and the space around it. Leaving it during a match, or during the warm-up, needs the umpire's permission.
Toilet breaks and changes
Before a match the organisers may announce that a limited number of toilet breaks or changes of clothes are allowed. If nothing has been announced, ask the umpire.
Coaching in the break
In team and double-pair events, whether a player may take advice from their coach during a toilet break is for the umpire or referee to decide.
Playing outside is different
On courts built for it, you may run out through the door to play the ball. That is part of the point, not leaving the match area.
