Wheelchair padel
Wheelchair padel is doubles on a standard court with standard scoring, and one main change: the ball may bounce twice before it is returned. The French tennis federation (FFT) publishes the most detailed rules, including the serve, the chair and player categories.
Hvad der ændrer sig i forhold til en standardkamp
Two bounces instead of one for wheelchair players. In FFT rules, the serve may be struck up to shoulder height, and the wheels replace the feet in the serving rules. The chair counts as part of the body for every ball-contact rule. In FFT rules, changing ends is optional if neither pair is disadvantaged by sun, wind or light, and the referee sets how often to change if the court makes it difficult. In FFT rules, adjusting or repairing a chair may not exceed 20 minutes in total in a match, nor 15 minutes for any one repair.
Reglerne
Two bounces: a wheelchair player may let the ball bounce twice on the floor before returning it. A third bounce loses the point. After its first correct bounce on your side, the ball may hit the walls or mesh and stays in play until a third bounce. FFT serve rule: at the start of the serve the wheels stay behind the service line, inside the serving area, until the ball is struck. FFT serve rule: the server bounces the ball in their own service area, and a player who finds this hard by hand may bounce it with the racket. FFT serve rule: the ball is struck at most at shoulder height, rather than the waist height of standing padel. FFT serve rule: the server may not move or pivot to change position while serving, though slight wheel movements that do not change the position are allowed. The wheelchair counts as part of the player's body. A ball that touches your own chair after your shot loses the point, as if it had touched you. You lose the point if you lose contact with your chair during play, or deliberately use a foot to brake or push. FFT let rules: the serve is replayed if the server misses the ball completely, if the dropped ball touches the server's feet or chair before the racket, or if it clips the net and lands in the box without touching the mesh before its third bounce. FFT let rule during a point: the point is replayed if a strap, belt or footrest comes loose without the player meaning it, or a leg falls and touches the floor. FFT serve contact rule: a serve that hits the receiver while they are inside the service box is the server's point; one that hits a receiver who stayed outside the box is the receiver's point. Scoring, the walls and the court are as in standing padel, unless the event says otherwise.
Sådan afvikler du det
Check access: doors, the gap beside the net posts, and a path to the court for chairs. Publish the rule sheet you are following and brief players and the referee on it. In France, follow the FFT pair categories: category 1 for players with a spinal cord injury or similar who cannot walk, and players with a Quad classification in para tennis; category 2 for amputees or similar players who can walk. At the French wheelchair championships, coaching is allowed only during rest time at the changes of ends, or at each odd game if the pairs do not change ends. Send results to the federation for the wheelchair ranking where one exists. The FFT keeps a single mixed ranking for men and women.
