What to wear: clothing and shoes
Wear proper sports clothing and sports shoes, never swimwear. In a competition, breaking the rule earns a penalty, and a player who does not put it right is disqualified.
Sports kit only
The FIP asks for suitable sports clothing and suitable sports footwear. Swimwear is not allowed on court, even at a beach club in the summer.
If you get it wrong
A player who breaks the clothing rule is given a fault, which here works as a penalty rather than a lost serve. If the player does not put the problem right, they are disqualified.
Your choice, within the rules
You may wear the shoes and clothing you like, and use the racket you like, as long as they meet the regulations. Teams are encouraged to dress alike, but they do not have to.
Shoes at the club
The FIP text does not name a type of sole. Clubs set their own rules to protect their courts, so check what the club asks for before you play.
